About The Pulpit Project

A Collaborative Journey in Preaching

The Pulpit Project is a transformative experience designed to equip pastors with fresh, creative, and impactful sermon series through collaboration with their peers. Hosted by the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church, this initiative provides a space for clergy to engage in imaginative sermon planning, exchange ideas, and cultivate new approaches to preaching.

Our Story

In August 2024, two dozen clergy from the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church gathered at the Orlando Science Center. They were invited to pilot a new, untested workshop called “The Pulpit Project.” For three days, guided by a spirit of creativity and collaboration, these preachers worked together to produce a collection sermon series as a gift to the Church.

Too often, we do this work alone. But we found that when you fill a room with people who are committed to the Gospel, who take the responsibility of preaching seriously, and who are willing to give and receive feedback, you not only leave with greater quantity but quality as well. Click the button to read more about our first cohort experience!

Why Participate?

Pastors carry the immense responsibility of delivering theologically rich, engaging, and inspiring sermons week after week. The Pulpit Project provides a rare opportunity to step away from the daily demands of ministry and immerse in a creative and supportive environment. Participants leave not only with a wealth of sermon series ideas but also with renewed enthusiasm and deepened collegial relationships.

“This project was a highly effective way to engage the creative process! Not only did we end with many sermon series, but I also left with more ideas and enthusiasm than when I arrived! I greatly appreciated the enriching collaboration provided by my colleagues.”
